Nashville Christian School & Murrieta Church of Christ

This week, we welcomed our sixth summer group from Nashville Christian School and Murrieta Church of Christ. This group was the smallest of the summer by far, having less than twenty people in the whole group. Aside from this, our American directors, Cody and Michelle Danielson, were forced to return to their home state of Montana due to a family emergency. Because of this, the rest of our staff were called to give a little more to ensure the week ran smoothly.

This week, Nashville Christian and Murrieta gave us a new weekly theme of Good News and incorporated our overarching summer theme of biblical threads. The VBS lessons this week consisted of a news broadcast showcasing the day’s events, including a weather report and a sports section! This ordinary news section was followed by a segment titled “Good News” a purposeful contrast to the ordinary news we see, which often includes everything but good news. For this Good News segment, a few of the group’s youth played parts ranging from Spiderman and Superman to Peter from the Bible. In the segment, the characters retold the events after Jesus’ resurrection through the day of Pentecost. Our kids learned about the importance of being a member of a church community and how that empowers them to find their purpose, fellowship, and most importantly a relationship with God. The group’s weekly VBS concluded with a summary of the stories from the Bible that have been told by previous groups this summer.

For their work project this week, Nashville Christian and Murietta continued to paint our wall as previous groups have. In addition, along with members from Baja Missions, the group traveled out to the local community in El Sauzal and helped give out meals to local families in the area. The group was a tremendous help in all the work that they did this week. We appreciate all that they did to help us and the local community as well!

We want to thank Nashville Christian School and Murrieta Church of Christ for joining us this week and for sacrificing their time and money to join us this week! We were able to make this a great week despite all of the challenges and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s effort!
