meet the finchers

The City of Children Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff and Natasha Fincher as the new American Directors of the City of Children. They will be starting their new position after they both complete their teaching contracts June 2008. They will be in training for the next year to prepare them to take over the management of the work in the fall of 2009. Carole and I are very thankful for their willingness to take on this responsibility. We have prayed for guidance and wisdom since last February when they were first offered the position, and we feel confident it is the Lord's will. We are looking forward to having them here later this year, and believe they will be a tremendous asset to the City. - Stan & Carole

jeff.fincher@lipscomb.edu

Jeff currently serves as director of student missions at Lipscomb Univrsity in Nashville, Tn. Jeff has a passion for two things: Missions and Youth Ministry. Graduating from Lipscomb in 1997 with a degree in organizational communications and a minor in Bible, Jeff began working as a youth minister. Jeff completed the M.A. in biblical studies at Lipscomb in 2000 and the M.Div in 2005. He is currently pursuing his doctorate at Fuller Theological Seminary in California.

Jeff has been instrumental in growing Lipscomb's missions program, beginning the Lipscomb mission trip to the City of Children in Ensenada, Mexico, and leading numerous Lipscomb groups there. That work has led to the establishment of eleven churches on the Baja Peninsula. He has also been involved in short term mission work in Austria and the Caribbean, plus numerous domestic mission trips. He also teaches freshman Bible and youth ministry courses. Jeff and his wife, Natasha will leave Lipscomb in 2008 to begin full time mission work in Baja, Mexico.

Dear Friends,

Natasha and I are deeply humbled by this opportunity that God has placed before us to serve as the American Directors of the City of Children. We have been bringing groups to the City of Children since 1994 and have developed a deep and abiding love for the home and for the children. But we never dreamt that we’d have the opportunity to serve in this capacity. We are both perfectly comfortable with our jobs and our lives in Nashville, TN.  Natasha teaches 6th grade at Nashville Christian School and coaches the varsity boys and girls track and cross country teams. I teach in the Haislip School of Theology at Lipscomb University while also helping to direct the Lipscomb Missions Program. However, God doesn’t call us to be comfortable; He calls us to be faithful.

So we have decided (after much prayer and counsel) that it is God’s will for us to step way outside our comfort zones and to fully rely on Him as we move to Mexico and fulfill this position.  It will be an honor to work with and learn from Stan and Carole and Ricardo and Patty. We also look forward to working with each of you in 2008. With God’s continued guidance and direction, we believe the future of the City is brighter than ever.

Dios ti Bendiga,

Jeff & Natasha Fincher

P.S. Later this year we will be launching “www.jeffandnatasha.com”, a blogsite that will chronicle our departure from Nashville and journey across the USA to our new home in Mexico. We hope to keep all of you updated on what God has in store for us - please keep us in your prayers!
